Our Elders are a group of leadership within the body of believers at Cross Roads Church. They are leaders whose spiritual compassion, wisdom, and discernment are spiritual insiders. They have been tasked with discerning the times and seasons; of holding pastoral and other staff accountable; foreseeing a move of God on the horizon.
As their pastor, I have asked them to be insightful and strategic, to "sense" where the Holy Spirit is leading, to be a spiritual "rudder" for Cross Roads Church and myself. Some of them are ordained Elders and some are not--but that isn't the point. They are true elders in the sense of Scriptural mandate: "So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory" (1 Pe. 5:1-4).~Rev. Shannon M. Rogers
